You Can't Outrun God
Dear reader,
Let’s discuss Jonah.
You might know the story of the Prophet (messenger of God) sent to Nineveh, (A horrible and vile nation) and how he turned the other way.
He booked a trip to Tarsus, and instantly things don’t go well for him.
A storm.
A distressed crew.
A swim.
A Giant fish.
As soon as Jonah turns from God’s orders things go down. Literally.
Yet God pursues Jonah. Jonah is a bit of a jerk, a whiny jerk at that. But I’m not different, there are times that I’ve thought that God doesn’t forgive these people. My pride and natural judgment disposition are horrible.
God is omnipresent. Which means He is everywhere at once. Which also means YOU CAN’T OUT RUN GOD.
Yet Jonah tries. Even when God sends the storm it’s for Jonah’s good, the distressed crew begins to pray to Jonah’s god, even though they are initially pagan worshipers, reminding Jonah of God’s forgiveness towards all mankind.
When Jonah is tossed into the sea the storm doesn’t kill him. God protects Him. He holds him in his care.
Inside a fish.
Being in God’s care doesn’t always mean immense wealth and comfort. It can also be sitting/laying in a fish for three days.
I share this with you because I’m wrestling with God in light of provision. Does God truly provide in the ways he says he does?
My answer is still yes. But I don’t always believe that with my heart.
Yet God is still chasing after me, providing and protecting me.
My rock and my salvation.
I have nothing apart from Him.
Sincerely,
Your Fellow Runaway
