When You're in a Ditch
Dear reader,
I have a story to share with you.
Back in February, I was driving from Nebraska to Colorado when out of nowhere it began to shoot sleet from the sky.
The roads instantly became icy and treacherous, and within about 10-15 minutes I had spun out of control on the highway and glided off-road into a ditch.
It shocked me. I won’t lie, my heart and mind jumped to conclusions and misconceptions about my situation.
How could God allow this?
I was driving across state lines to do something I was very confident in his guidance to do.
I shot out a few messages and a phone call to ask for prayer for my situation.
I sat there a bit angry, but soon my anger diminished. I knew God wanted me to be in Colorado this weekend, and I needed to trust that He was going to pave the way for me to be there.
Then I did something risky.
I started driving.
I saw the terrain was decently flat in the ditch itself, so I threw it into drive and began to drive alongside this field and ditch. I came to a small portion of the ditch where I thought to myself “I could make that.”
I sped up and I drove through the ditch sending grass behind me as I sped away back on the highway.
I was a lot more careful for the remainder of my adventure.
The reason I share this story is because God showed me something very cool at that moment.
I get stuck in ditches all the time, I practically run there in my free time.
Yet no matter how much I want to moan and complain God can easily pull me out if He so chooses.
When God wants you out of that ditch you’ll come out. One way or another.
Sincerely
Your Former Ditch Dweller,
-Mitchell
