this is so dangerous

What to do With a Prideful Heart

July 05, 20252 min read

Dear reader,

Sin is no joke.

Pride is the root of all sin. And if you don’t think you have a pride issue, you have a pride issue.

I have wrestled with sin my whole life. Some distinct sins are worse than others. Today’s story is on pride.

I have put up many defenses in guarding my heart, mind, and eyes as far as lust is concerned.

Yet the other day my pride was through the roof. I was thinking about how well I had been doing, even though the temptation was overbearing. My mind was elsewhere thinking about all the different things I wanted to do in the confines of my room

Yet as soon as my pride led me to cross lines I knew I shouldn’t have.

I went farther and farther and landed back in a heap.

Because I’m pretty good at sinning my conversations with God afterward have become quite ritualistic, even habitual.

I would slug into God’s presence and admit my downfalls. I’d ask to be reminded of his grace and mercy, and yet this past time of repentance was powerful.

God wouldn’t stop reminding me of his love and enjoyment towards me. It was as if I couldn’t bring myself to smile, and yet He was near me embracing me constantly, I couldn’t stand it.

It was too good to be true.

My pride was still present.

I asked God to remove my pride and it was as If I was hit with fresh water.

His mercy and love was so refreshing and cold.

It woke me up and showed me that the day is ruined when you sin.

I am not a slave to sin, and I will never be again.

The blood of Christ covers me completely. EVERY part of me.

Don’t let your pride force your nose up into the air.

You need God, you have no righteousness apart from Him.

Come back and enjoy God’s presence. He enjoys you, is it reciprocated?

Sincerely,

Your Fellow Sometimes Proud Pal
