is this a man?

What Does a Godly Man Look Like?

June 16, 20252 min read

Dear reader,

I have recently learned that the topic and definition of masculinity are very skewed by the reality of the world we live in.

What makes a man a man is a very preferential concept. And that greatly bothered me.

Our local church began a study for the men in our church called Kingdom Man by Tony Evans, I must admit I wasn’t super excited about it. But I was willing to go and see if they were legitimate brothers in arms willing to train and equip me for life.

The first session was humbling. That’s putting it lightly.

There we were sitting around a round table admitting where we fall short as a man, what we disagreed with how men around us lived, and how God calls us to live.

That conversation hurt. I wanted to be blunt, open, and honest. A majority of my speech was pessimistic. I couldn’t help it, but God had been stripping away a lot of my pride lately, and I wanted to help to do that for others.

I am not condoning this behavior. It was not from a good heart or kind intentions whatsoever.

But what I did notice is this.

There is a Call for Kingdom Men, God wants men who are willing to step up leaving their pride behind them.

There is a Call for Kingdom Men to rule in the areas of their lives they were placed to lead.

There is a Call for Kingdom Men to be intentional and not passive any longer.

That challenged me greatly, for I know that is not me, but I long for that to change.

I ask you this. Do you want to live the life you deem to be good, or do you want to lay down your desires and pick up the ones whose desires are perfect?

He is our example.

Jesus was the ultimate Kingdom Man, and we have so much to learn from Him.

Sincerely,

Your Fellow Kingdom Man in Training
