The Gospel Retold
Before time there was God.
Then he created the world piece by piece.
Light and Darkness.
Earth and Water.
Then the animals and lastly humans.
It was all good.
We wanted our own way.
We wanted to please ourselves, not our creator.
We chose selfishly for many years.
Our history is full of murders, rapists, and thieves.
We celebrate men and women for many different reasons, and yet we intentionally leave out God as if He’s done nothing for us.
I’m no better than those in our history books.
I’ve lied, stolen, and hurt others.
I’ve looked to the skies and cursed my creator.
I’ve created in my image in order to steal from his glory.
He grabbed ahold of my heart one day.
It was maddening.
It was radical.
It was beautiful.
I lost my hold on the world.
Or better yet, the world lost it’s grip on me.
I walked away from everything I once knew.
I let the light of the God of All Things shine into the darkness within me.
He saw my hurt, my demons, things I never wanted revealed.
His blood washed away the stains written all across my skin.
I am a new creation.
I am forgiven and redeemed.
I am Chosen.
Each day I am given more breath.
I cannot waste it.
It’s a gift that I can never return.
I know now that my life is not my own any longer.
I give this call to you.
You who are lost, hurting, and weak.
You who are in the light yet of the flesh.
Today is the day of the lord.
Rejoice, and be glad.
The suffering and trials you walk are hand crafted by your savior.
He walks with you, and is glad to bear them alongside you.
You who are weary lean on Him.
Before I end I leave you this plea.
Take this day and let it reveal the glory of your Father and king.
You are not your own.
You were bought with a price.
It’s not my story I’m writing.
I’m retelling his.
It’s the only thing worth talking about.
Do you agree?
