Should You Make a Plan?
Dear reader,
I have always been one who would carry myself with a plan.
To go into each day with a series of tasks and objectives that would carry my attention as I would walk forward.
I’m slowly beginning to question if that is the right motive or not.
If we are to carry on with our days in a manner that is holy and pleasing to our Lord and Father, shouldn’t he get a say in what we do?
Ultimately Glorifying God should be our absolute goal, and the mindset we have each day, but how we carry that out looks differently for each person.
Should it?
I want to introduce a question. How different should your life look from mine? If you are my brother or sister in Christ there should be very little change between the two of us.
Yes, we have different stories and paths to walk in this life. But our response should aim to be the same. To honor God in word, thought, and deed.
I’ve been rather disappointed with goal setting. Yes, I don’t believe setting goals is inherently sinful, but at the end of the day, goals can become distracting from our main goal.
God is the absolute writer. He knows our end from our beginning, He is the one who guides, nudges and corrals us in the right direction. But what He really desires is love, and one of the best ways to show love is to be obedient to him in all things.
He is the one who lays the steps out before us. We can plan all we want, but each breath of air is His gift to us.
Don’t go out of your way to fulfill your own goals, dreams, or plans.
They will leave you so empty.
Ask God what path He wants you to walk down, and charge full steam ahead.
Sincerely,
Your Fellow Planner
