More Like 'The Screwtape Letters'

Dear reader, 

This letter has a very different angle than what I usually write. 

I have a series of letters I’ve wanted to compose in the creative style of C.S. Lewis with his book “The Screwtape Letters.” 

The perspective of how demons view this world and play their role has begun to intrigue me over the past three years or so. I believe it’s crucial to not negate the fact of the genuine war we fight every day within the spiritual realms. I must stress one fact before diving into this, these letters are purely hypothetical conversations. I write these to draw out possibilities that Satan and his followers might use against those who claim Christ’s blood and forgiveness. Do keep in mind the perspective of the writing, there will be many lies that fill these pages, don’t succumb to them. Hold fast the truth that has been revealed to you. 

Thomas More once said, “The devil…the prowde spirite…cannot endure to be mocked.”

I aim to mock Satan until my dying day. He’s lost the eternal war, and he’s in denial.  

Without further ado. I give you ‘The Barnuss Letters’. 

Dear Barnuss, 

I have decided to write these letters to you in hopes of spurring you on in your years of learning how to torment and bring tribulations to those of The Enemy’s Chosen. 

I know you are still a mere child, but I must admit our Dark Father Down Below has great plans for you. Plans you will fail time and time again executing, but you must keep stumbling forward. 

Your role as a demon is one that this material world pretends doesn’t exist, or they acknowledge us more than they should for their own health. 

Today I want to fixate on the basic concepts you must grasp before you come of age and are assigned your very first target. 

Lies will be your primary weapon. Our targets are feebleminded. They don’t want to admit how much they inevitably believe the lies we whisper in their ears, but I assure you, the easiest way to drag one of His Children off the narrow road is to weave words in such a way that guides them directly into our hands. We must deliver messages and craft our arrows to hit them in such a way that they are constantly forgetting The Enemy’s lies of love and mercy. 

The second weapon you must utilize is fear. Humans are fearful creatures, and they place their fears everywhere except in their God. Reveal to them pieces of the world beyond their own, frighten them at every opportune time using different forms of media and storytelling, they’ve begun to enjoy the fear we casually deliver. We thrive when our targets our fearful of us and our Dark Lord. I assure you that fear is a fantastic addition to your arsenal. 

The third and final weapon I will discuss in this letter is this. Corruption. Due to Eve and Adam’s wonderful choice in the garden, all of creation has been twisted and perverted in our favor. 

How The Enemy chose to create a perfect world must now watch as his creation detests him at every turn. His children live in an active state of revolting. It’s a beautiful scene to sit back and enjoy. 

You must understand your purpose. You are here to do Our Dark Master’s bidding. He has many schemes against The Enemy and His Bride, but here’s the catch that I beg of you to grasp quickly, we can only do what The Enemy allows us to do. If he allows you to create chaos in communication or cultivate hate within the mind of your target please do so. We are only allowed to do so much, but we must do our roles well. 

Son, I have had my victories and my losses in this life. I chose to follow Lucifer out the gates of Heaven and I haven’t looked back ever since. There is no grace and forgiveness for me, so I must carry out the rest of my life in a way that is unwholesome and corrupted for the sake of my Master. I hope you will join me by my side one day. 

My newest target is a young man. Who just got married to a horrific beast, the fool believes he will one day serve the Enemy as one of his shepherds. He’s experienced much turmoil and hurt by my hands. I’ve misled and tricked him many times. He’s considered my words as an old friend more than he realizes. Yet I must admit my grip on him has been loosening over the recent years. He seems to acknowledge my tactics, and his constant study of the infernal Book has shown him the cracks in my disguise. 

My dear Barnuss, you will experience great pain at the end of this life. We will reap what we’ve sown, but for now, I will raise you up to live in direct disobedience of the Enemy, together we will cause fantastic havoc together. 

You have so much to learn, but our cause is worth the wait. 

This is the beginning of your demise.
