How To Push Past Distractions
Dear reader,
I don’t know about you but I get distracted so easily.
I live in a very old house, it was foreclosed for a few years, squatters lived here for a while, and it has slowly been renovated.
Yet many parts of this house still distract me. The primary one is the sound of mice running through the walls.
They’ve been here since winter, scampering and skittering as they go.
The other day I was writing and I couldn’t focus, the gleeful critters would not shut up, so I turned in my chair and yelled “That’s enough!”
It was silent for maybe seven seconds, then back to the festival of rodent noises.
I did everything I could to ignore the noise, but it was intoxicating. I got up and went to my room, and the mice were in those walls as well.
I couldn’t escape it.
This happens to me on and off most days. Until the mice die out from the plethora of traps we’ve set out, or the weather gets nicer these little pals will continue to live the life they’ve been given.
As must I, the order and design between these creatures and myself are very different, yet they were created and placed on this earth just as I was, and they were given a purpose as I have.
I am to be creatively worshiping My God for this life and the next, and to be honest, I’m sure the mice are supposed to do the same to some degree. I don’t understand God’s methods behind things like this, but I would be ignorant to believe these creatures are here to pester humans for the rest of their lives.
They have a purpose, even if I don’t see it.
Sincerely,
Your Fellow Mouse Tolerator
