How to Not Be Afraid

May 28, 20253 min read

Dear reader,

I just had the privilege of traveling a long distance in a Blizzard.

It was optional, the road conditions were less than desirable. Yet it was as if God himself commissioned me for the journey.

I had a time of worship before the journey and it was very difficult. It was as if there was an elephant between God and I, and I couldn’t grasp what it was. After seeking out his Word and Spirit I received this understanding.

I was believing lies. Lies are what stood between us. The enemy was hitting me with everything he had, and it was working.

I needed to take up God’s Armor and Sword.

I needed the Dark Forces to know that I was ready for the attack.

I needed my faith to be followed by my action.

I got on my knees asking God to place his Holy Armor on me. To teach me to wield His Sword effectively.

I stood up and I declared to all evil listening that they were not allow to mess with my head or my heart any longer.

“I am a child of the one true king. And I bind you Jesus’ name. Today is the Lord’s day, I will be glad, I will be filled with hope, and I will claim the victory that Christ has declared over me.”

In that moment all fear dissipated.

I turned around in my room and felt an overwhelming peace.

I looked out my window and saw the blizzard that stood before me and my destination. “If you go before me and make a path I will go.”

I packed my gear.

I put on my coat.

I went to the door, then my phone began to ring.

“Were you planning on still coming? This storm is wild, and we don’t expect you to put yourself in that danger.”

A test. One last ditch effort by the enemy to divert my path.

“Yes sir. I am still coming.”

I got in the car and slowly got moving.

The thing with blizzards is that it comes with a horrible side effect. White out conditions. You cannot see in front of you barely at all. And that was the beauty of this trip, I knew if God wanted me to make it He would lead me there, even if I couldn’t see very far in front of me.

The roads were slick. The people drove much slower than normal. And the snowflakes were massive. Yet I made it to the parking lot safe and sound.

Oddly enough I got stuck in the entrance of the parking lot, but I didn’t worry about that until it was time to leave, and even still, by the time it was my time to leave a plow truck was plowing the parking lot which paved the way for my departure.

My path was made clear.

You are faced with many blizzards in this life. Physically maybe not as much depending on where you live throughout your days, but spiritually God brings blizzards into your life to see if you will truly walk by faith and the light of His Word and Spirit.

The enemy wants you to fear, to believe lies, and to not walk out into the cold due to discomfort, but if we are truly to die to our human desires and pick up God’s that involves a great measure of discomfort.

I leave you with this. Don’t be afraid to put on your coat and head out into the storm. The Lord Your God is with you. You have no reason to be afraid.

Sincerely,

Your Fellow Blizzard Chaser
