How to do More than Marketing

May 30, 20252 min read

Dear reader,

As you (Most likely) know I have started a business. And something bothered me the other day as I was telling someone what I was going to set out and do.

“Oh, so you’re going to do marketing?”

Eck. No. Absolutely not.

The word marketing leaves such a bitter taste in my mouth. I had no intentions on helping people to ‘market themselves better’.

Marketing is not my end goal at all. It's bigger than that.

I believe stories of redeemed believer have immense power that we don’t tap into, and that is a fatal flaw. If we are encouraged and spurred to action by the word of our testimony why on earth would we leave them unsaid?

Why would I build up your business and your product and not talk about the God of the universe, and His grand redemption narrative woven into yours.

That got me thinking. I really need heavenly wisdom as I move into this line of work. I don’t know how profitable redemption storytelling is, but I knew that’s what God wanted from me.

I began to collect stories, I began to listen to people, I began to help them see the redemption hidden in their stories, and how that plays out infinitely for the rest of their lives.

It’s easy to fret about success in the business world. It’s easy to fear that your product or business will not make it. But I assure you, if your perspective is that of Heaven’s, the way you act and carry out your days will be one of worship. And that is infinitely more important to God then your business.

His worship is more important than all the money in the world.

His worship is more important than all the fame you could wield.

His worship is more important than buildings you could ever build.

This life is more than just marketing.

It’s about worship of the one true king.

That my friend is worth putting the hours into.

Now how does that work? Aren't you a marketing agency of sorts?

Yes, but for us to want to help anyone to tell their story, we must first make sure we are aligned with the story they are telling.

That my friend is much more than what the world would say is marketing.

Sincerely,

Your Friend the Storyteller
