Embracing Imperfections
Dear reader,
How are you with imperfections?
I’m a recovering perfectionist myself, and I am actively looking for new ways to view the world in light of grace.
I am writing to you on an iPad that I purchased a few months back. I wanted to be more versatile and flexible when it came to traveling for clients, and this seemed like a good choice.
As I was installing the case, the keyboard, and the screen protector I messed up.
I messed up big time.
When you are applying the screen protector you need to be careful and precise so it is aligned. That part I nailed, it is so straight.
BUT.
In the bottom left corner of the iPad, somehow, a hair is stuck between the screen protector and the screen.
I noticed it as soon as I was finished, it stuck out like a sore thumb. An air bubble surrounded the hair as if it added to the shame that I felt at that moment.
Realistically no one has heard about this event, or even remotely cares. But I share this because I chose not to fix it. I could easily take the screen protector off and do another one, but why not allow the imperfection to remind me of my own personal imperfections?
Grace and mercy are only valuable to us because we are sinners. If we weren’t they would mean nothing to us.
I would challenge you to find the hair on your screen. The small things in life that remind you of your fallen nature and God’s infinite grace towards you.
It’s no small thing. Don’t treat it as such.
Sincerely,
Your Recovering Perfectionist
