Don't Settle in Marketing

July 07, 20251 min read

Dear reader,

I don’t know if you are a master chef, but I am admittedly not.

The other night I went to make some Mac and cheese, I got all my ingredients out, the stove was boiling my water, and I slowly and methodically stirred my future meal.

After I had strained it and poured all the yummy ingredients into the pot I sat down with a bowl and spoon earner to take my first bite.

“CRUNCH”.

The sound caught me off-guard. The taste was even worse.

I got another spoonful and two more pieces of noodles crunched against my molars.

“CRUNCH CRUNCH.”

I looked down at my bowl with disappointment. I thought I had followed the instructions quite well, and yet my food didn’t taste very good at all.

How about you?

How often do you make things that you thought were the right way but they leave a bad taste in your mouth somehow?

Take marketing. You make the characters, the conflict, the climax, but the resolution falls flat.

Just like my Mac and cheese, it might look great on the outside, but some of those noodles just ain’t cooked right, and your audience will know it.

Let us evaluate the stories we tell and make sure they are well prepared, well cooked, and well seasoned.

No one wants a half-cooked story.

Sincerely,

Your Cook in Training
