great..?

Does God Want Me to be Great?

June 26, 20251 min read

Dear reader,

I was confronted with a truth the other day that made me uncomfortable. I want to ask for your perspective on it.

“Do you pursue greatness?”

It caught me off guard, and I had to self-reflect. With how I carry myself, do I pursue greatness?

I was in a Men’s study group as we discussed this topic, and I didn’t want to speak up. Conversation went on about pursuing greatness in sports growing up, and even their work.

But the question remained. Do I pursue greatness?

Back in high school, I was shown 1 Corinthians 10:31 which says “Whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” From that moment on I would say I was active with adjusting my perspective to live a life that glorifies Him.

But what about me? Do I strive for greatness?

In a sense yes, anything that we do in alignment with God’s Authority will be great in some way or another. But to truly submit we must admit our meekness first. We must remind ourselves that we are utterly dependent on God to enact any greatness from within us.

I couldn’t walk on water by myself.

I couldn’t share the Gospel on my strength.

I couldn’t love my enemies with God.

True greatness is found in Christ.

And He leads us to do even greater things than He.

(John 14:12-14.)

I urge you on reader.

Look to God, ask Him what needs to change within you, and be active in your pursuit of greatness from a heavenly perspective.

Sincerely,

Your Brother in Greatness
